My girlfriend’s sister just emailed some pictures of the blizzard that is hitting Dillingham.
All of you east of the Rockies talking about your not-so-wintery winter? That’s because your storm is stuck in Alaska.
ETA (thanks oldtobegin!): That’s six feet of snow piled outside her apartment.

Snow still blanketed much of Washington state on January 23, 2012, when the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured these images. The top image is a natural-color scene similar to what our eyes would see from the sky. The bottom image is a false-color scene that better distinguishes between snow and clouds. Ice and snow are red. Liquid-water clouds are white, and ice clouds are peach. Vegetation is bright green.

Neat!

Yeah, we were supposed to get rain today too, but the temperature has stayed pretty cold and it’s freezing rain at my house. Six inches of snow with a layer of ice on top. Awesome.

My boss is about 30 miles north of me, and he has 2-3’ at his house. And he unfortunately just traded in his truck a week ago so he’s totally stuck.

Also, the girlfriend’s parents are dogsitting for a family friend because he had to race down to Portland last night to check on the boat he’s fixing up in Scappoose because the marina called him to let him know the roof was collapsing and resting on the top of his boat.

And I unfortunately have meetings today so I’m working too. Wah wah

Seattle got hit with some snow, as if you haven’t heard. It’s like a winter wonderland, and everyone’s taking a snow day.

We got 3-6” in our area, and the dogs are having a blast.
