Posting this to remind myself to read it later.
I still think this is all horseshit marketing (if you want better sounding music then don’t listen to lossy formats), but I’m curious to see what some audio engineers have to say about it.
A little improvement in Friday
I had iTunes whip up a genius playlist and it actually did a pretty decent job at both matching the mood of the weather (rainy Seattle) and also improving my morale. I thought I’d give you all a taste of what I’ve been listening to this morning:
- Harvey Danger - Carlotta Valdez
- The Long Winters - Ultimatum
- Nada Surf - Stalemate
- Local H - High-Fiving MF
- The Dismemberment Plan - What Do You Want Me To Say
- Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The One Who Got Us Out
- The Thermals - St. Rosa and the Swallows
- Soul Coughing - Soft Serve
- Hum - The Pod
- The Weakerthans - Over Retired Explorer (Dines With Michel Foucault In Paris, 1961)
- Cake - I Bombed Korea
- Nada Surf - Treehouse
- Mike Doughty - His Truth Is Marching On
Not too bad, I’d say.
I don’t mean to brag (especially about something I didn’t really have any part in creating) but I have a pretty sick genius mix happening right now.
It’s definitely helping me shake the Monday feeling today and get shit done.
Hey Apple, I know you don’t give a shit about Windows but you should really fix this UI bug. It’s been in there since at least iTunes 10.5, and there have been a few different updates since then that haven’t addressed it.
Bands That Appeared in my Nirvana Genius Playlist
- The Beatles
- Led Zeppelin
- Green Day
- Iggy and The Stooges
- The Kinks
- Rise Against
- Jefferson Airplane
- The Clash
- Queen
- Brand New
- Queens of the Stone Age
- Incubus
- Anti-Flag
- Deftones
- The Animals
- Squeeze
- Creedence Clearwater Revival
- The Ramones
I think it’s safe to say that’s not what I expected.
