Brockman, what are you doing?!
In case you’re wondering what the hell all of this is about — and if you’re not, mayhaps you should be — “Swagga Suits” are “unique […] onepiece jumpsuits” designed specifically for the tastes, measurements and comfort preferences of folks who support the University of Washington, where Brockman starred for four years before becoming a second-round draft pick of the Sacramento Kings in 2009, a group that includes UW students, faculty, alumni, fans and “Community” star Joel McHale.

#6 Arizona @ #9 Washington, Saturday, February 26th, 2005.
While the end result of this season was disappointing (a blowout loss to a much better Louisville team in the sweet sixteen), I think this is my favorite Husky team.
We camped out for this game (it wasn’t the first time), but this one was special because it was Senior Day, and the biggest home game since UW upset unbeaten Stanford the previous season. Romarville was in full force, with the first 20 or so tents going up Thursday night as soon as the Arizona State game was over.
We normally sat in the back row of the student section, but for this game we decided to switch it up and sit in the front row, putting us in the third row overall and just a few feet from the court. And it paid off, because I was able to get some pretty decent pictures (including that shot above of Lute Olson snubbing Brandon Roy prior to tipoff; also pictured is Romar and Salim Stoudamire).
Someone had gotten a hold of Channing Frye’s cell phone number, and every time he had the ball the crowd would chant the number at him. Unfazed, he still put up a cool 30 points and kept Arizona in the game.
In the end the Huskies prevailed, 93-85, and while Arizona still ended up winning the Pac-10 that year, UW beat them again to win the Pac-10 Tournament and earn a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. Their second round game against Pacific is still the only tournament game I’ve ever been to.
Brandon Roy wasn’t even a starter on this team, FYI. Tre Simmons, Will Conroy, and Nate Robinson all started ahead of him.
(This post brought to you by the terrible inaugural season of the Pac-12. Let’s all pretend it’s 2005 again, okay?)
UW is on pace for a 20 point game
It’s okay. We can build in this.
Haters gonna hate, by I think UW’s slogan of “Go Purple. Be Gold.” is pretty good.
(USC @ UW bball game on Root Sports right now FYI.)
Every time Terrence Ross makes a great play
I scream “DemooooOOOOOS!!”
Anyone who grew up around Portland knows what I’m talking about.
Breuer’s demeaning comments about women, racial and ethnic groups, gays and lesbians, and religious groups had no place being sponsored on or by our campus. They represented a distressing departure from the comic routine we expected and from the welcoming message we had hoped to send. Even in the context of an artistic performance, such expressions of bigotry are antithetical to values of the University.
abearfoot, this is what I was talking about.
Hey, Tumblr community, meet one of your neighbors…
They come into our country and take over our language. ESL? English is a SECOND language? Hell no. English is the FIRST language of America. If American’s went to Mexico, they would throw a pissy fit if we tried taking over Spanish with English. Why would we let you guys into our free country just so you can fuck it up again? America is full of dumb bitches being fucked up the ass. Some free country, I can’t even voice my own opinion at my school without being threatened to “get jumped”. Go to LA, those are real gangs. Not pussy ones in Salem, Oregon. Don’t get me wrong, not all Mexicans are like this. The majority of them are, though. I don’t care if you call me racist because everyone knows I am. I give props to the smart Mexicans, the non-“gang-bangers”, and so on, too, though. I’m fine if you speak it at your house or something but you shouldn’t be speaking it because you don’t know English. K. Have common sense.
Don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t think Americans are any better. Take a look at this post for instance, it’s so horrible, intolerant, and racist. Every race has their flaw, no matter what. You know it’s going to be good (read: very very bad) when a post is titled “rant about Mexicans.”
Another gross phenomenon besides the “I’m not racist but…” - the young, proud racist white girl. They’re all over Tumblr.
I gv yi ga wo ni hi s di? Tsa la gi, U ni tsi gv ge yu i.
True story: I decided to never go into law after two weeks of the Intro to Law class at UW. We were having a discussion about languages at the DMV based on some case we were studying, and various members of the class kept bringing up how English was the official language of the USA (USA! USA!). I spoke up to mention that there is no official language in America, and the professor gave me a “yeah, whatever” look and moved on to the next student, who continued complaining about the government offering Spanish-language DMV tests. I remember literally nothing about that class except for that moment and also that I got a B, which was probably better than I deserved considering my disdain for it.
Oh, and Oregon has some pretty racist parts to it. Pretty much everything is terrible outside of Portland and the U of O campus in Eugene (not that there aren’t racist parts in those two spots).
About fucking time. In his third (and final) year, he created the worst defense in UW history. Good riddance.
News in 2011.
(I kid, I kid, Bob Condotta is actually a great journalist. He’s managed to write great daily columns for the Times while also integrating blogging, Twitter, and online video. It just cracks me up that this is how news comes out these days.)
